News from Warrawee -
Well the Australian National Championships were a great success for us – so great to see horses bred and sold by us, and horses by our stallions competing and owners making the trip from interstate, and catching up with friends/clients – a lovely social time. A big THANK YOU to all the people who assisted us during the run-up to the Championships – we couldn’t have done it without you. We were so proud of all of the horses – the way they carried themselves and were presented.
Thank you to Al-Kareeme Stud for preparing and showing Warrawee Naadia for us – a 9 y.o. mare by our now deceased stallion Arabian Park Banner from our Hawley bred mare Warrawee Naadiq - unshown since a yearling - she looked beautiful and was just a smidgen out of the finals.
Thank you also to Jenni Fairweather for the preparation under saddle of our wonderful Warrawee Shakeera. She was Australian National Champion Partbred filly in Sydney and took off the Partbred Saddle and Bridle Path Hack Championships in hometown Melbourne, as well as Top Ten Showhunter. Well Done Jenni and Shakeera.- topping off her ridden win at Melbourne Summer Royal 2009.
Well all the foals are weaned and we look forward to a couple of months of rest – made the harder by little rain – Victoria really is suffering.
Our beautiful little Anglo colt Warrawee Gay Paree (by Warrawee Grandee out of the Arabian Park Banner daughter Warrawee Nadra) took off Champion Anglo Foal at both the Tonimbuk and Magic Breed Foal Shows – prepared and shown by Rebecca Lewin. He is now back home to play with his friends. He is a full brother to Warrawee Shakeera.

On a sad note we report the passing of our beautiful Mt.William Deena – suffering from founder as a result of snake bite. We lost the battle after an 8 week struggle. A terrible ordeal for her and us. She left behind her filly foal by Warrawee Grandee – her long time partner. She was a full sister to the fabulous Mt.William Perelin in Germany. Her offspring include Warrawee Adoree in Germany, Warrawee Eveeta, Warrawee Three Wishes, Warrawee High Prioritee, and our fabulous yearling colt Warrawee The Maeestro. Deena was by Warrawee Dundee, a full brother to Warrawee Grandee and we line bred her back to Grandee every year except one with outstanding success.
Now on a happier note – Gleneagles Georgio by Warrawee Grandee – previous to his success at the Australian National Champions (see results) – he went Reserve Newcomer at Barastoc against over 40 entries, and Top 8 Show Hunter with Becky Allen. This fabulous young 4 y.o. 17h Partbred has the world before him – beauty and performance – showing ability to jump also. Congratulations to his proud owner John Findlay.
Airlie Kelly reports that Warrawee Chain Reeaction is progressing well with his saddle career in the capable hands of Sue Madden who is continuing his training while Airlie is being a mum to her gorgeous little girl – congratulations Airlie.

Phillipa Jordan-Hill says that Warrawee Show Mee (Mia) is being graded with the HRCAV to enable her to start competing. Show Mee went to live with Phillipa as a 14 y.o. after being a brood mare. She had been broken in as a 3 y.o. and from all reports Philippa’s instructor is very impressed at how quickly she catches on to what she is being taught. I think a lot of credit to you Phillipa for giving her such a loving environment and also a testament to her temperament. Congratulations.
Naaman Stud passed to us the news and photo of the Warrawee S’Preem gelding Naaman Tribute after he won Supreme All Breeds Exhibit over 12 other Champions at the New Zealand Royal Show late 2008 – mostly international judges with scores of 9s and 10s. He also won his Novice hack later that day. Congratulations to Tribute, his proud owner and Naaman Stud.
Julie VanderBrug in Queensland owns the Arabian Warmblood mare Warrawee Veneetia and says a couple of weeks ago at a jump club outing under cover and under lights she came 4th in the 80cm A2 – such a thrill for Julie after limited work. Her daughter Emma won the 80cm Grand prix. So a very excited VanderBrug family – congratulations.
Catherine Nunn purchased the Arabian Warmblood gelding Warrawee Amadeeus a month or so ago and she reports he is going very well. They did an Alan Mitchell Clinic and he went very well– Alan Mitchell was impressed. Then off to instructor Carolyn Earl’s on the 23rd June and he was “amazing”. “ Has started pirouettes etc. He’s such a smart boy – Carolyn thinks he’s a legend.” Wow Catherine – great news.
Also a bolt from out of the blue in March from 12 y.o. Sarah May – Hi Sarah.
Her email –
I am Sarah May and I am 12 years old. I have one of your horses Warrawee Akayir A.K.A Jack he is 14 years old, chestnut. He is a wonderful pony. I am doing grade 3 eventing (75cm). We are going to move up to grade 2 dressage. ‘D’ grade showjumping on him (75cm to 85cm). Last weekend I came 4th overall on him, in ‘D’ grade. Love him very much. We are competing a lot together I have had him since October last year and having a great time with him.
Thank you very much for breeding him”
So lovely to hear from people of horses bred such a long time ago.
Quite a few Warrawee horses have found new homes as follows –
Warrawee Amadeeus – the wonderful arabian warmblood gelding has been sold to Catherine Nunn and by all reports she is thoroughly enjoying him. He was a family favorite of ours – good luck Catherine.
Warrawee Deelilah has been sold to Rebecca Costin and Deelilah is about to commence a career under saddle – good luck Rebecca.
Warrawee Breez has been sold to Al-Kareeme Stud – this Classic winning gelding by Bandomol has it all - looks conformation and a wonderful temperament. He will make his mark as a saddle horse we are sure as has his full sibling Warrawee Chain Reeaction and half brother Warrawee Peeter Pan, and of course his half sister the wonderful Australian Champion mare Warrawee Highlight.
Warrawee Fairee Tale has been sold to Kylah Laurie of NSW.
Warrawee Three Wishes has been sold to Beate Sommer in Queensland to continue her career under saddle. We are eager to follow the career of this beautifuil mare.
Warrawee Pas Dee Deux has been sold to Julie VanderBrug of Queensland where he is already gaining a fan club.
Warrawee Queen of Hearts has been sold to Ben and Mira Kelly to continue her show career and commence a career under saddle.
